Surinamese | Guyanese

I identify myself as a straight Dutch guy from a Surinamese and Guyanese background. My mother is from Surinam and my father is from British Guyana. They both live in Amsterdam.

I grew up all over Holland, I never had a place from which I can say that I grew up in, but I lived until I was 11 years old in Amsterdam east.

Since I was a young boy, I knew the differences between Surinam and British Guyanese and the impact it had on me, because both my parents spoke different languages. My father spoke English and my mother spoke Dutch.

I have friends from all over the world.  It doesn’t matter what color, race or sexual orientation they are, I really don’t care at all, I love people and care about them until they prove me wrong.  When I choose to date someone, I don’t care where he or she come from provided the heart is in the correct place.

There are still loads of bias attitudes towards mixed race people all over the world. When I was in boarding school as one of the 3 black guys, I was surrounded by only white people, the reason it was so unpleasant is because I was locked in an environment with people who were so racist towards me, and I was so young at the time. If I were to be born again, I would still like to return as a Surinamese | Guyanese guy just like I am now, just as myself.
