I'm half Filipino and half Ghanaian. My Mom is from the Philippines and my Dad is from Ghana. They met at a park in the Philippines. While Dad was walking around at the park he saw Mom and approached her and said you look familiar and after that he asked Mom's address and went there every day before Dad left the country.

The way I see it, the only thing a couple should think of is being happy with each other, since they chose each other. When two people like each other and trust each other, you have all the ingredients necessary for a healthy and good relationship. Skin colour is totally irrelevant.

I receive a lot of comments about my skin tone and my ethnic background, a lot of it is racist. I’ve been told a few times to go back to where I came from. I have been criticized in my school many times for being Black, but I just don’t mind them because they don’t understand what beauty is. When I was walking towards home there were two kids playing in a jeepney and then when I passed by them, they  made a racial comment, I just didn’t mind them. My Dad always told me don’t mind what the people tell you just stay in your lane and make them proud someday.

I haven’t visited Ghana yet, but I have the plan to visit soon and study about their culture, converse with someone who has travelled there before and also respect their culture and maintain good communication with the people.

I love the way I am, I am passionate about what I do, so if I am given the chance to be born again it will be me again. Based on my point of view on being mixed didn’t evolve since I was child till now and I think as I get older it won’t change.

I’m currently residing in the Philippines. During these times of sudden change and uncertainty I participate in outdoor activities like going for a walk, visiting a local park and swimming. I also meditate sometimes to unleash all the stress.
