Dutch | Antillean
My parents are from the Netherlands and Curacao. I'm not in contact with my Dad. If someone asks where I am from I will casually answer I am half Dutch and half Antillean. I embrace both cultures equally and am proud of being mixed. It's the best of both worlds I'm blessed with.
Myself and my sister both find our cultures at home through cooking and music. We carry the cosiness and hospitality that comes from the Antillean culture yet we can be a bit reserved more like the Dutch. We also like our private time during dinner which is typically a Dutch thing. That’s the moment we all sit together and talk about our day and personal business, so we like to have dinner (mostly) with just our family.
Even though I am half Dutch and half Antillean, I'm very light skinned. Sometimes people make jokes about me by calling me milk instead of my name.
I like Antillean food, music and their hospitality. And for the Dutch part I like the opportunities given to build businesses and to be successful. Oh and before I forget to mention, I love the Dutch weather which might sound crazy because of the amount of rain we get but I just don't like hot temperatures which is common in Curacao.
When I am older I would like to run my own business like a successful entrepreneur. Instead of watching TV I am always behind the computer writing business plans.
